A measurement system born in the field
LARES Engineering & Earth Sciences was born from the meeting of scientific curiosity, field experience and the wish to build new technology. We are not outside observers of the geophysics sector — as a team that is both researcher and practitioner within it, we know the real needs of the field, the limits of existing systems and the problems users run into. That is the question our R&D is shaped around: how can geophysical surveys become more reliable, efficient, accessible and user-centred?
The company started as a joint venture bringing together the knowledge, experience and drive to build of an academic and a young entrepreneur; since 2019 we have operated within the Ankara University Technology Development Zone. Sitting at the intersection of academia and field practice lets us build strong collaborations with universities, research institutions and industry professionals — for us, commercial success is not placed ahead of scientific and technical accuracy, but is its natural consequence.
Today CERES® is the system we build mainly for resistivity and induced-polarization measurements. Its electronics, server and user interface are developed in-house, so a request from the field can quickly become part of the product. Alongside our products, we provide near-surface geophysical services with methods such as ERT, VES and GPR, and consult on R&D projects.
